PLYMOUTH – COBRA Union President Dale Webber says he’s incensed that Public Works employees were sent to the North Plymouth Fire Station Monday, Nov. 18, to pull out a wall in the basement in the advance of the town receiving test results that indicated the presence of asbestos in the building.

Town Manager Melissa Arrighi issued a directive the following day, Tuesday, Nov. 19, stating that the station would be closed due to the confirmed presence of 2 percent asbestos.

Assistant Town Manager Marlene McCollem said Tuesday that tests conducted on the building indicated that there was no asbestos in the basement area where the workers dismantled the wall.

Webber countered that the asbestos test was on the sheetrock wall, not on the basement itself. READ THE FULL STORY >>
